Eventually you need some phosphorous since ammonia does not help there. Some carbon and sulfur too in an amount that nobody can quantify. Along these lines, the trend of dry/dead rock can supply some of this, but unclear if it is in a super available form.

This might be too old-cycle, but the juices from frozen food were a strong go-to.

Solid idea. Lots of fish-food sourced soluble proteins spread into the water.

Off topic, but I have a fun new experiment that you will like. I will tag you when I open the thread. It involves IR and maybe NMR.

Today ammonia was .5ppm so I dosed per the instructions. Looks like the bacteria is growing as to be expected! Thanks again for all the info/help!
