Cycling with shrimp

I cycle my tank at year ago with it and liked it more than using a fish

Float the shrimp in a net, lay the net in the tank water and leave it there for the duration of the cycle. When that cycle is done, you will have a huge bacteria count for your fish, and wont have to worry about mini spike when adding more than one fish at first.

I use raw shrimp but I don't use anything to contain it. I figure as the bacteria builds it'll feed on the ammonia that's still being released by decomposition.

You want to kill a feeder fish? Not my say here, but once its dead, yea, it will serve the purpose.

Or acclimate a Molly just for the fun of it and use a live one. A lot easier to catch than a damsel too.

Ah, well I see your point. But Im not for killing the thing just because. I agree with the use of a Molly, they are pretty hardy, and not nearly as nasty as a Damsel.
