Hey everyone first time posting as I am new here, been reading a lot of Threads but can't quite find the answer I am looking for. I started up my tank last Tuesday I believe 7/10. I added dr Tim's one and only to a 55 gallon tank. The bottle said it treated 60 gallons. Shortly after I dosed with ammonium chloride to what I believe is 2 ppm. It's been roughly 11 days and my ammonium hasn't changed and also I have no nitrites or nitrates. I have heard cycling takes some time but I was just wondering if this seems right, thanks to anyone in advance.

Dr Tim’s bacteria can be very slow to start working. Fritz Turbo Start is much quicker. Try another nitrifying bacteria product or wait for Dr Tim’s bacteria to wake up.

Perfect I will give that a shot and order some and keep you all updated thanks!

I set up my tank ,let it run for 2 days added dr. Tims and another one . And stress coat. And through in 7 green chromis . It's been 6 years and I have all of them still.

Yesterday I received some more bottled bacteria and dosed it to the amount, 24 hours later (day 14 today) I checked and ammonia still sitting at 2ppm and nitrates and nitrite at 0. Hopefully I'll get to see some movement soon!

Just updating in case anyone is following, day 16 today, I tested everything ammonia 2ppm nitrite 0ppm nitrate 0ppm ph 7.8 no movement at all yet. Any ideas or suggestions??

If you used rock, saltwater, heat, flow, bacteria +5 days you were cycled.

Suspect bad tests, or tests that are not fine enough to show the transition.

Time for fish.

Not sure if anyone is still following or not but if you are I have finally gotten back with some more results! Today is day 21 of my cycle, I am guessing that my ammonia before was probably closer to 4-5ppm of ammonia but can surely say it is at 2ppm as of today. It's weird because I only dowsed ammonium chloride for 45 gallons of water in a 55 gallon tank, but anyways the ammonia today is exactly 2ppm, nitrite is 5ppm and nitrate is 15-20ppm, so it looks like my cycle is finally getting somewhere! I'm very excited!
