Tomorrow is 6 weeks of cycling my tank and I'm pretty sure that I got diatoms now and I just got it 2 days ago but I want to make sure that it is diatoms so could someone tell me if that's what this is and what should I do now?

it's like a dark rusty color on the rocks

Need an image under less blue but it does indeed sound like the routine diatom bloom.

It appears to diatoms to me. Looks like you may be near the end of your cycle.

They didn't show up until I started running the light for awhile each day

Looks like Diatoms to me as well. Continue the routine lighting period if you like. Diatoms feed/use the silicates that are present in/on new tanks, equipment, sumps. It's possible to have a diatom bloom just from adding materials containing silicates. Once the silicates are used up the diatom bloom dies off, no intervention is needed.

How many hours are you running your lights and at what percentage? I'd cut back your photo period to about 5 hours a day for now

I've been running them for about 8 to 9 hours a day and I just started running it about a week and a half ago and I am only running the light at 15 percent and sometimes 20 percent and it's a 30 gallon tank

When I noticed diatoms in my tank I started running my lights on a normal cycle as if corals were in the tank. Just my opinion.

What should I do how long should I run the light for and at what percentage it's a Kessel 360we light and I haven't figured out how to do the timing on the light yet so I've been turning it on and off myself

If diatoms are your only issue then keep on trucking. Sounds like your on the right track by slowly ramping up your percentage.
