Hello,

I want to know if its possible for fish to get Cymothoa in a home aquarium, my possum wrasse had this white thing coming out of her mouth. It looked like she had teeth, I netted her to see better and it went way back into her mouth. I can't see it anymore and I'm wondering what it was, while it was visible she had no interest in food. Is it possible my wrasse is a victim of a Cymothoa species? If it appears again I'll try to get a picture.

Thanks! :)

I Would love to see a picture!

I've seen it in fish in the wild. Never heard of it in aquariums until now, and didn't know that Humble had started a thread about it a few years back haha

Would love to see a pic!

Yikes! For the fishs sake i hope not! Doesnt usually end well for them..:(

The louse hasn't become visible again and my wrasse has stopped eating, she tries to eat but she misses the food or just bumps into it. If it gets worse I'm going to QT her :(

I have thought about it and I'm going to QT the possum wrasse right now, I don't want any of my other fish getting a louse. Do you know if possum wrasse can be FW dipped?

Yes they can but if the lousse is already attatched it wont come out..:(
