This cynarina was in a friend's tank the heater went out and the tank cooled down significantly before being discovered. As a result this coral and a few others began to loose tissue and the mouth began to remain open to the point that you could see the interior skeleton. I saw that it was dieing and figured I'd try to save it. The mouth has begun to draw closer at times but in the two weeks I have had it has never closed completely. It also hasn't lost anymore tissue and recently has started to puff up when the lights come on. Do you thinkteventually it will recover and is there anything specific I can/should be doing to help it?

If it’s showing signs of improvement I would just keep doing what you’re doing. You should feed it as well when the lights are out and the feelers are out.

There haven't been any feeders and there aren't any guts as far as I can tell. I can see directly to skeleton through the gaping mouth. I'm afraid to try and feed it because if there isn't anything to digest it won't the food just rot inside the coral? Ive always been an sps guy but have taken a liking to lps lately and have had a scoly for about 4 or five months but that's about the extent of my experience with lps.

You could try a little bit of food if you wanted to see if the feelers do come out. But you’re right, if it doesn’t eat the food can rot or the clean up crew will crawl over the coral and pick inside of it for the food and stress it out. I would try it and see, just don’t go overboard. They filter feed, so
You could feed a coral food like coral frenzy or something too.
