Hey all
Was dealing with a pretty bad diatom/cyano issue and decided to do a 3 day blackout while I went out of town (roommate who also has a tank fed it while I was gone). After I came back I noticed my poor branching cyphastrea had lost almost all it's color. The tips still have some color and there is some green in a few places. It looks like bleaching, but it was in a total blackout. Thoughts? Before and after pics included

Looks to be dissolving flesh. I found a rough frag like that today and I tossed it. Sorry.

Looks more like receding flesh/dying coral. If there's still color there's still a chance.

I'm not a pro at this but I will say most people will only be able to help offer suggestions if you post your parameters.

Nitrates, phosphates, pH, alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium are good places to start.

How often do you check alk and pH?

Any recent temperature, salinity, pH, or alkalinity swings?

Have you added anything to the tank recently?

Everything else looking good?

Age of tank?

If dino, the low level toxins will do this. 3 day blackout not enough
What is your current no3 and po4 levels and can you post tank pic under white lighting?
