Hey all,

Got this cyphastrea frag a couple weeks back. Started out nice and bluish with some healthy green heads that were opened up nicely. I had it on a rock on a bottom in the open. Noticed over the last weekish that lost its color with the heads turning brown.

All the rest of my corals are doing fine. Just did water tests: nitrates 10; phos 0 salinity 1.025 temp 77.4.

I keep mostly blue on all the time with with more intensity when it first comes on and lowest in the eve. Only run my whites very low like 2% for a few hours. Lights only on 8 hrs a day.

Below are some pics. Turned the whites on so you can see the frag. Won't even go anymore. I've since moved it to the rock your seeing. Where this place will now have shade and not much flow.

Pics of the other coral frags I got which are nice and vibrant.

I’ve lost two cyphastrea. Some of the eyes still glow under blues but the surrounding color has turned brown. I started them on my sand bed and they started to brown. I tried messing with flow and light and nothing seemed to help them. One of them is even growing! Brown, but spreading over the plug. My nitrates are almost undetectable and blame it on that. I really like the cyphastrea so it’s a bummer.

Are you dosing? try dripping alk. It does wonders.
Im 6 months in...dont like to artificially add things to speed things up...unless absoloutlely needed. My acan is doing very well...as well as zoas...dont have a lot going on in my tank as I want to take things slow and not overload my tank. I'll take this one as a loss for now...I'll give it another couple weeks and see if it will come back after moving. If not...sad loss...
