Cyphastrea, you're looking particularly lovely today...

Hey There,

I was peering into one of our raceways the other day, and I was really taken by this bright green glow. It was a large group of frags of our old friend, Cyphastrea. I had to laugh, because months ago, we "rescued" this big, dying brown clump with washed out red "eyes" from a forgotten bin at a local wholesaler. Turned out, with a little TLC, the passage of time, and some love, a beautiful "Meteor Shower Cyphastrea" colony emerged from the ugliness. It's frags have been a top seller on our site ever since.

Ever rescued a coral or colony from the brink of death and had it come back to its former glory? We'd like to see some success stories!

An oh yes, we have a contest to judge...Winner will be announced later today some time after we finish deliberating! :decision:

Love success stories. My tank is full of them. I will take a dying piece any day and try my hand at bringing it back to glory. Here's a good example. Havnt ID this piece yet but it was thrown in the garbage after a member had a tank crash. I said "don't throw corals away" pull it out and ill see what I can do and viola another success story..and good thing because it is beautiful. Maybe took about 4-5 months

Always nice to see these turn-around stories...We feature so many "a" grade corals all the time that it's nice to hear of a success story with a sad coral now and again!

Do ya'll ever see branching cyphastrea, there are several morphs I would love to collect along with the one pictured above.

Here is my best... I got a tyree pink watermelon frag.

I haven't taken another picture of it in several months but it has colored up even more and has started to thrive

First photo was the day I rescued it....browned out, receding edges, pitiful little piecem March 12
Second photo was two months later. It is now even better and plating out but I don't have a recent pic.
