That looks great! Now we need a new equipment locker shot!

So i just tested my PAR again just to make sure I was close to where I was before with the G3's now that the G4's have been up for a week.
I had lowered the overall intensity from 95% down to 80% and I'm still getting slightly higher numbers with the G4's.
But what is really interesting is that the PAR actually INCREASES as you go away from the center of the puck!
In other words, if I start with the par meter directly under the puck, and then move it towards the front glass, this PAR increases as it gets closer to the glass.
And this effect becomes more pronounced the farther down I go.
Up high, there is little change or the par numbers decrease like you would expect.
But as you go farther down, par increases as you go out.

Example.... around midway in the middle of the tank my par is somewhere around 250.
In the middle of the tank but close to the glass, my par is still around 250.
Closer to the sand bed, directly under a puck, my par is 220.
Closer to the sand bed and at the front glass, par is 240!

Very very interesting.

I would say that overall, with the G4's I have a more even spread of PAR across the entire tank.

Here's the before and after. And this is with lowering the overall G4 intensity slider from 95% to 80%
The blue numbers are near the sand bed at the front glass.
The yellows are as close to the center of the tank as I could get.

Wow, that's some really even coverage. I would have thought the numbers would have been higher, though? Especially up top. It looks like those those hot spots are really gone.

How is the color versus the gen3?

Go back to my initial posts from last weekend when I first hung them.
That will probably answer your question on color.
And these definitely put out more par than the G3.

Is there anything you can't use with the triton method? Also sexond question which I'm sure you may have answered previously but how deep is your tank?

Like what?

21" deep.
Lights are about 17" off the water.

I know with zeovit I believe your. It to use a sterilizer. I wondered if there were any filtration devices I.E. Denitrator or gfo etc that your. It to use?

Trying to decipher your posts. Lol
Do you have SPS at the bottom???

Triton recommends carbon and a little po4 remover. You don't need anything else. You can use a uv if you want. I'm using a little ozone.

Darn so at 48" what can I use to get light. Eat the bottom?

It depends on what the distance is between the light and water as well. Mine are 10" off the water and going through my glass tops I can still get 125-130 par at 26-28" with my lights at 75% intensity.

I agree...I expected to see somewhat the same drop in par as the black boxes when you get out from under the direct light but it really doesn't drop. I hope you're enjoying your lights as much I as do.

Sorry it's the iPhone keyboard. The its meant not. I have no water in my system yet. Equipment is here but a few things to square away before starting. Trying to ask questions before as opposed to running into problems after

The reason i'm asking is because you don't need 2-300 par at the bottom of your tank unless you are trying to grow sps on the sand bed and even then there are lower light sps.
48" is really tall and hard to work in! Hope you're ready for that. ;)
I won't go more than 24" tall.

I definitely noticed that lol. I'm debating on what to put in which system. I have two set ups setting up at same time. One 720 and one 220. Due to the depth I was thinking softies, shrooms. Zoas, LPS lower half and SPS upper half of the 720. Would love to have a clam on the sandbed but that is an impossibility.

Hey Dennis, love the video. The cheato has turned into a MarinePure Cheato Bio-Block Lol.
I'm sure it exports everything needed for bio-filteration.

Maybe I over read it somewhere but did you get the mars hydro off their website or is there a eBay seller or someone else that carries them. Also are you running anything in addition to your refugiam like GFO?

I got mine on eBay. 300 watts think it was like 69$ or so
