I purchased a used RKE just before I found out they closed up shop. I can not seem to be able to get the thing to program using MyReef. Does it have to be up and running? I have all the components except the head unit mounted up on a board to be mounted to the stand. I took it to my laptop and tried for over an hour and got no where.

Thanks for any help or tips.

Richard

In order to be programmed I do believe all the components do have to be connected to eachother.

They were all connected to each other, just not to the tank. Head unit was connected just not mounted to the board. Sorry if I wasn't clear about that.

Oh, sorry about that. So they're all connected just not showing up on myreef 2.0? @n2585722

Try plugging the sid v2 that's plugged into one of your modules into the computer first and then booting up myreef 2.0

The system has to be up and running to program the outlets in myReef. I usually hook the SID to a computer running myReef. Once the SID is reconized by myReef hook the SID to the system buss while the system is running. This will allow you to program the outlets. You can also graph in myReef but it requires your computer to be hooked up and running myReef 24/7 with it hooked to the system. Then NET module will graphs up to 16 ports if you have that module.

Ah, OK. I didn't know that. My tank is in the man cave and the laptop is on my office upstairs. What I did was to take all the modules upstairs to try and program them and then set it up in my stand. I didn't realize the pump, power heads, lights and probes needed to running the tank in order to program them. Thanks for the help. I'm going to give it a try tomorrow. When I plugged in my SID it said it needed to be updated, it updated once, but then it said it needed to updated again and the update failed.

Your equipment doesnt need to be plugged into the power bars to program them. You just have to have all your modules and power bars and head unit connected to eachother via the bus cables and then plug your sid v2 into a free port on any of the units.

It does need to be powered up. I don't think there has been an update for the SID in a long time, but it is not uncommon for it to say it needs an update. I am not at home to see what I have for SID firmware though.

OK, that is what I did, but on MyReef, it would only show the SID as being connected.

You did power up the power bars on the system? Did you click on the SID in the tree on the left of the myReef window? All the modules and the head unit should show up under the SID in that tree if the SID is plugged into the system buss with it all connected and powered up.

Yes, powered up the bars. I just tried again and under the SID it only lists the PC4's(2 PC4's and one is a PB4). Two are listed as PC4's and then the tree branches off, but nothing is shown(on side bar menu). On the main screen, The SID and three PC4's(PC4's are in italics) are shown. The SL1 and head unit are not listed. Also, the side bar menu is flashing.

Sorry for bothering you guys, but I am lost here.

OK, I think I might have found the issue. The PB4 is listed as a PC4 and is not showing up in the list. The stand by light on the bar flashes every 30 seconds or so. Is there a way to reprogram the PB4 back?

Also, SL1 is not showing up and when I plug the SID into it, it says that it is a PC4.

It sounds like someone updated the firmware on a module with the other modules hooked to the system. You have to update with only one module hooked to the SID. So you have to do each module one at a time. The issue you might have is that you need the firmware on your computer to update it on the module. Since the DA servers or no longer hosting this firmware you will have to get it from someone before doing the update unless you already have it on your computer. Is should be in the Digital Aquatics folder in the documents folder. There will be several folders that start with 30-. That number is the model number of the different modules. You will have to look in each one to find out what module it is. I am not where I can get to mine at the moment to tell you which ones are which. But if you find you have the firmware you will have to do an interrupted update on the affected module before you can get the correct firmware back on the module. I don't know if this will work with the PB4 or not. I will have to see if I can find a posting for an interrupted update. It used to be on the DA server. That explains how to do it. Basically you will have to start an update and when the status bar starts to move you will unplug the module from the SID. Wait for myReef to error then hook the module back up. It will then show up as a bunch of ? marks. Then start another update and select the correct module from a dropdown menu. Then let the update complete. If you do two of the same modules at the same time it wont work either as they will have the same serial number so the controller will think it is just one module. Hope this helps.

See post #18 https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/alternatives-to-digital-aquatics-probes-and-parts.439573/ for a copy of the interrupted update instructions. This was copied from tha DA website when it was up and running. Also you will need to do a reset to factory defaults to get rid of the ghost modules on the head unit. The head unit remembers each module that had been plugged into the buss by a serial number. The interrupted update will change this serial number. When reconnected it will be seen as a new module. The head unit will also remember the old module serial number even if it is not connected any longer.

Sorry had to edit with the link. I copied the instructions to a different link.

THANK YOU Danny!!!! That work like a charm. Everything is showing up in myReef perfectly. I hope you don't mind, but I'll be asking a bunch of questions about setting up certain items. Once again THANK YOU.

Correct. To program in My Reef the controller needs to be on and all modules plugged in. To do any software updates it needs to be hooked up the the PC4s or PB4 need to be turned off. Be sure everything is using the current updates and do a factory reset on everything. In My Reef on the left side you will see you modules listed such as the head unit PC/PB4, SL1/2/X and any other modulea you have. Click on the module you want to programw like the PC4, it will open and you will see each channel, pick one amd use the drop menus to set up the channel.
