My LFS said the coral needed to be very close to the light and 10 days into keeping it it does appear to be happy. However, having watched some videos on them the suggestion is to have them not so close to light - on the basis it looks happy do I leave it or is it an accident waiting to happen?

Its an Alvelopora keep it away from the light mine is in the sandbed

It's an alveopora but IMO I'd leave it be, it looks happy. Usually kept on the bottom but again, your looks happy so why mess with it. Occasional feedings of reef roids/oyster feast will keep it happy too. If it starts to show signs of stress/bleaching then I'd move it but it looks great.
