For anyone curious what a damaged prism looks like on a Milwaukee refractometer. Heres mine, fresh out of the box (plastic still on the screen) and somehow it keeps saying my tank water is a perfect 1.025, even when I dilute with RODI. Looking closer and the prism doesn't seem to be what I would expect it to look like. Happened to have a microscope set up in my guest bedroom and took a quick photo. Yep! Not right!
Bummer...
Image 1 is unit
Image 2 shows what I can see with my eye
Image 3 is the unit on my scope taking a photo of the glass itself to make sure it looks okay.
Image 4 is the glass again with a different lighting option. Crud around edges is moisture I couldn't wick away.
Image 5 looking through the glass at the prism itself. Idk what it SHOULD look like, but I doubt it should be that far misaligned, and prob shouldnt be all scuffed up. My assumption is the prism used to be adhered to the underside of the glass well and fell off.
