Damaged toadstool

I knocked a rock over with a toadstool on it, fell on another rock. The base is about half ripped open, and some of the cap/polyps seem to have crush damage on that side. Sigh. It’s not very large. Would you cut the cap off and band it down, or leave it and try to let it heal back together? Other ideas? It’s pretty little, too small to frag.

I would leave it. Make sure there is some flow around it to blow off any dead tissue, but not hard enough to tear it more.

So this coral seemed to be healing, slowly growing new heads on the damaged polyps, and expanding well.

This is what it’s looked like for weeks

Here a couple days ago when closed

Here last night near lights out

Today it has white spots and is all closed.

I blew it off with a turkey baster, looks like small holes? If you go back up it looks like there were holes in this area, no polyps, the entire time?

What could be going on? Is it reproducing? Necrosing slowly? It doesn’t seem like something would be eating it. It also doesn’t seem to be waxing. I don’t want it to melt and wipe out the tank.

Your toadstool is shedding its quite common mine does every few months or so.

With my leathers, if the tissue is not black, it is okay and will heal or shed. I have had my toadstool, gosh, over 12 years. It has gone through a lot too. torn, moved, cut, ripped, dots like yours, burrowing creatures. It will close up and then be fine after time.

The longest it closed, was after I moved it and took a small piece off and that was like a month. So, they are hardy. If not black tissue, should heal. Just keep an eye on it.
