Damsel/Dead Coral Trouble

I had 3 damsels that took over the tank in my 65 gallon reef tank. I just removed 40 gallons and most rocks to get them out. Now I have a rock covered dead Xenia. Should I remove them all or just let them breakdown?

Hi, if positive dead ,would not put back in display .
put in bucket of water to assure dead.
