Any idea what this is? Saw it the other night, don't remember ich being like this, and from all that I've read or viewed, it doesn't point that way. It was there one night, then the next day, seemed to completely disappear, then came back the following day. The damsel is showing no signs of sickness or irritation? I have 3 (all small) of these guys in an almost 2-month-old tank, and one other one seems to have a very light variation in the same area of its

head, but ha not turned white. Added 4 trochus snails about 2 days before, and had 5 very small hermit crabs. I also added an additional well seeded live rock in the main display, and some sump (live) rocks a few days prior as well.

Sorry for the ill-placed video.I have much more to learn!

I don't see that it is ich, or any common external parasite in the video. The damsel with the worst spots is kinda thin, and has dull color, could it be harassed by another damsel? I do see the similar spot, not as well developed on the second fish.

Head and Lateral Line Erosion is a possibility, but rather rare in damsels. Have you run carbon in that tank? HLLE also doesn't come and go like that, but will look different as the lighting changes.

No, carbon has never been used in the tank.. We were thinking along the same line as your harassment theory...Perhaps that might be the source of contention. I will keep an eye on their behaviour toward one another and see if that is the cause. Thanks Jay.

I think those are abrasions. Likely hitting the area jetting into the rock.
