Yes.

Also, It's a territorial fish and it will bully anyone else you plan to add. Just a heads up if you plan to change your mind on your private damsel reef. :)
 
I am not a fan of damsels as although colorful are also territorial and bullies especially amongst themselves. It would make a pretty tank, BUT beware of aggressions, chasing, bully feeding and possibly death from aggression
 
What size tank are you talking, and what species of damsel? The OP stated that he is only keeping the one fish, so there shouldn't be any aggression or chasing....unless the lone fish is crazy :)

ooh, I caught this as single species , not fish. Heck - Blue spotted, neon velvet, ocellate , or rollands comes to mind
