has any body here had any luck with damsels. i have a springer damsel that is on my frag tank and I'm about to take it apart and was wondering if i should add him to my display if not I'm taking back to the fish store. i bought him cause they suppose to eat flat worms.

Not sure what you mean by "luck". They're just known for being aggressive. If you like him and want to add his to the DT you can but just make sure the fish he's getting added with will be able to hold their own if he is a bully. If you're not sure I'd just return him to the store.

When I moved everything to my 180, the two damsels went back to AC. They give full credit for damsels.

I will say this about damsels though...I had a red flatworm outbreak years ago. One blue with yellow tail damsel wiped out that problem in just a couple weeks.

My experience with damsels are they will eat anything they can get in their mouth and will beatup anything close to its own size.

Mine would attack any size fish and harass the hell out of it. Sucks to add a $100+ fish and watch the damsels harass it.

From what I hear they'll be aggressive to anything there size or smaller, even larger at times. As I and others have said I wouldn't do it. I've never added damsels (other than clownfish) because I didn't want to have to worry about them being aggressive. Too many beautiful fish that you can add instead of damsels that have amazing color and not the attitude.

I have a starckii damsel in my display that I bought off of Divers Den. He was a real PITA at first but he has since settled in and only occasionally nips at other fish. Overall I really enjoy him (nice looking fish) and am glad I gave him the chance to settle in as I thought he was going to have to go.
