Tried this once. He had a back door. Going to try again this weekend. If not then idkIf you can wait until it goes in a hole in a rock and pull the whole rock out. A fresh water bath will sometimes make them jump out of the rock. Don't kill it!
See I also tried traps for a week. The thing is that the selected hermit crabs were obviously not as enticing as the rest of the CUC I put into the tank prior to the creature making his presence known. How he remained in hiding during my rock cleaning process baffles me. I found several mantis shrimps a quarter of his size.
Florida. It also came with about 10 red mithrax crabs and two brittle starfish that survived the trip plus several urchins and pistol shrimp. Not sure how many pistols are left with this guy around. I did get three hairy crabs that need to be removed and a sally light foot that will also come out when they are larger.
