first I would like to thank this forum for all its help.

Next I had my corals at a lfs while my tank was being treated. I brought my huge platter size toadstool Leather home and put it in the tank. I added a cleaner shrimp at the same time. Well the leather hates it. He hasn’t opened since he has been home. 4 days. The shrimp won’t stay off it. My question is will it get used to the shrimp and open or do I need to get rid of the shrimp. Take it back?

How big is your tank? Got rocks? Do you feed the shrimp? Cleaners are like that. But they typically graze where the food is. If your tank doesn’t have anything else, it may want to stay on the new addition. Anytime I put something new in my tank, my cleaners dart for it. Then go on their merry way. They also have a home where they tend to spend their downtime.

The tank is 75 gallons. I would think the leather would get used to it. I know I had a mates pair of clown fish and I had to trade then in cause they were beating it and the leather wouldn’t open.

So no fish in the tank, is it? I feed my shrimps when I feed my fish because they fight so badly for the food. Perhaps it’s hungry.

I sent a picture. There is a lot of rock. The pi I was tack before the ick disaster. The leather is so big and it looks like it may be shedding or something. Would that be a food source?

Leathers will secrete slime. But doesn’t mean it’s dying. But it will bother other corals. No idea if shrimps like it...
