i just noticed this dark spot on my male clown. His behavior and appetite seem fine. Actually, the past few nights he's been hanging out between the heater and back wall of the tank. Maybe burnt himself? Any thoughts on what it might be and how concerned I should be?

Probably hypermelanization. This is usually from a coral sting or when a clown first begins hosting anemones. Watch closely, if it grows or appears infected, grab metroplex, kanaplex, and furan 2 for treatment.

I would definitely keep an eye on it, and keep antibiotics on the ready. It looks a little more "injury" to me. If he starts acting lethargic or breathing heavily, or the spot grows, you'll want to start treatment ASAP.

There's no coral or anemones in the tank. I am hoping it's just injury though. I will pay close attention and I have all of those antibiotics on hand. I could use those in my DT if I had to, right?

I personally wouldn't, they are better utilized in a hospital tank without rock or sand.

I can barely even see where the spot was now. I guess that's a good thing but I'll keep an eye on him
That's good news!

Terrible pic but here he is against the heater again this morning. That is right where the spot was. I don't know why he has chosen to sleep there recently.
