Anyone know what this dark spot on my convict tang could be? It’s more of a black color than anything. I also have a sailfin tang, but they get along very well so I don’t think it could be from it.. Thinking it may be some kind of disease, and do I need to catch to treat?

Side note, he is eating and swimming around like normal.

Looks like a scrape injury that is healing. Could use pics with brighter white light intensity to confirm but this is a blemish rather than disease from the looks of it. Other would be bacterial but pics again too dark

Agree - need brighter light pictures - also nice to know when it started, how long it took to develop, any other fish sick or new?

Hello! This morning the spots look different & he is resting on a rock. Best picture I could get because he won’t come out I first noticed it last night, so I couldn’t have taken long to develop as I tank watch nightly haha. No new fish, he is actually the newest. He has been in tank for about two weeks after QT. I have a sailfin, some clowns, wrasse, and a few goby’s that are all currently doing okay!

I posted an updated picture this morning, but still not a very good picture because he seems to just be hiding. It looks like this morning the top sides of his fins are now gaining a dark color too.

One issue is that fish often do have different 'spots'/patterns when they are hiding. is it not swimming at all? Is there any reddish tint to the lesion?

If lights just went on, give it an hour and repost pics
