The other day I started noticing one of my clowns starting to get little dark blotches on his or her skin.. Do we know what this is?

Is the fish kept with corals or BTAs? Sometimes they get stung and leave those marks.

No BTA. Just a torch, rock nem, and a couple of zoas at the moment. It’s a new tank (finished the cycle around Halloween..

If she's tried to guest in the torch, as they will sometimes, she could collect some of that hypermelanization as a result of torch-stings. (Torch-burns? (>__<))

They're not uncommon, or particularly threatening - just keep an eye on her.

Thanks! I haven’t seen her try. Although on my old set up I had a pair of clowns that hosted a gold torch. Never saw any stings on them but these clowns are smaller and much younger then those were so maybe the olds ones built up a tolerance possibly..
