Hey all,
I have a temporary holding tank for some of my corals that I'm trying to keep during a tank overhaul. The live rock has aptaisia and hydroids so I'm not planning to keep it. I'll be fragging pieces to restock 2 different tanks. So, I broke a piece off the monti cap and brought it home to add to my display. The holding tank is at my office. Anyway, I'm puzzled by the dark spots on the monti cap. I didn't think much of it until after I already placed it in my display. I acclimated and dipped with revive. I've never had any bad coral bugs that I know of and haven't placed any new pieces in the holding tank. Please have a look and let me know what you think.

Have you tried blasting them off? I'm suspecting flat worms. Dip it in flat worm exit.
Guess I need to break a piece off and look at it with a magnifying glass. I've never had flat worms in my tank, that I know of. Anything to look for that may support that theory?

That's what montipora eating flat worms look like. Good news is they only eat montipora. I've never had them either and they just showed up in my tank one day and a I'm maticulous about dipping every single coral before it goes into my display. The reason I asked if they blast off with a turkey baster is because that would determine if the black spots are a part of the coral or a parasite. Idk if coral dip kills flat worms that would be the only possibility they got into my tank.
