Does the fish wedge itself into the rocks at night to sleep?
What color are the two spots?

It sleeps under and flush against a ledge/shelf rock.
the spots are very dark (black?) with a small, lighter spot in the center.
I appreciate your help!

We often see fish of this body shape: tangs, rabbitfish, etc. with wounds in this general area from rocks and corals rubbing their body during the night while sleeping. Sometimes the wounds develop a bacterial infection which can range from dark, white, grey, to red looking. Treating the fish in a QT with wide spectrum antibiotics like kanaplex, furan2, NFG powder, Sulfaplex, etc., will give the fish's immune system time to recover.

There’s an anemone nearby, too.
I’m wondering if it got a little ZAP last night... THAT would be one heck of a wake up call!

These are sores likely from rubbing on rock. You can treat easily by doing the following:
a- treat tank with partial dose of prazi pro (internal prevention)
b- add melafix to tank
c- Add garlic to its' diet

PRODUCT SUMMARY:
API® Melafix is an all-natural antibacterial treatment that works to treat infections in fish. Common bacterial infections are open wounds and abrasions, tail rot, eye cloud, and mouth fungus. API Melafix also promotes regrowth of damaged fins and tissue. Product may be used when adding fish to an aquarium – particularly to smooth the transition from store to home – and if an infection is suspected, but not yet diagnosed. Some fish bought in pet stores are already carrying diseases at the time of purchase, which may be difficult to detect in its early stages.

API Melafix will not adversely affect the biological filter, alter the pH, or discolor water. It is safe for use in freshwater, saltwater, and reef aquariums, and in aquariums with live plants. Dose for the recommended amount of time as directed on label, and in accordance with the size of your aquarium.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Add 5 ml per 10 gallons of aquarium water. Dose daily for 7 days. After 7 days, make a 25% water change.

Here's a method for catching those difficult to net fish:

Wait until the tank and the room it is in has been dark for a couple of hours. Using a small flashlight, locate the fish. Shine the light into the eyes of the fish and keep it there. The light will mesmerize the fish making it easy for you to net.
