Hey everyone, came home to a slightly wet floor yesterday and was not happy. Upon inspection, I noticed a very slight but steady leak from my return pump, a dart. I took it apart and cleaned it and checked the seal, it seems to be tear/rip free. What else should I look for and any other areas to check out.
I have attached a picture of the seal and some “knob” thing that is wear I noticed the water dripping from.
Thank you in advance.

The shaft seals are typically what leaks; these are the replacements. They're available from many sources. They wear fairly quickly so always keep a set on hand.

The drain plug ("knob") also has an o-ring.

If the threaded knob was leaking, a little teflon tape should fix it.

Seals will be the issue. These do run a little warm and could have slight warpage on plastic housing. Place plumbers silicone on seal if you are going to reuse them to keep them pliable

And for what it's worth, the manufacturer doesn't recommend petroleum or silicon based lubricants on the seals (premature wear).

How does a lubricant "wear" on a surface that is static?

I think I may have found the culprit, the "knob" is a drain plug and should have an O-ring with it. I didn't see one but am heading back home to double check that. If not maybe an o-ring from the hardware store would suffice.

O-ring was in tact on the drain plug. I took everything apart, cleaned it up removed any slat creep and put new Teflon tape on everything and it seems to be running fine with no leaks. Will be keeping an eye on it though.
On a side note though, I do have an extra set of seals laying around, how does one change them?

Back off line as it was still leaking. I was unable to get the impeller off so I dropped it off at my LFS and he is going to swap the seals out for me and I hope this works. On another note, I have a backup dart as well, but the impeller on it seems seized up. Any ideas on fixing that thing?
