Started this tank after I moved into my new home in April of 2017.
I've been keeping reef tanks since the mid to late 80s growing up on Oahu. I used to get live rocks and fish straight out the beach.
I try to keep my tanks simple and as low maintenance as possible. I used to use the IM medium skimmer but hardly turn it on now since I started using an algae scrubber.

2 months later I upgraded the Kessil 150w to my current Ecotech XR30W pro Gen 2 that I got used for great price.

Then I got the new Hybrid T5 but removed after couple months cause it was overpowering my little 40 and bleaching some of sps.

For over a year, I had a difficult time keeping any fish for over 3 months. Here are pics of all the different fishes I had which unfortunately I don't have anymore except for a small baby 6 line wrasse that was indestructible.

My favorite section is my zoa garden.
Lots of people ask me what's the secret and my answer is "patience".

For the last 6 months my acros have been doing great and growth is awesome.
Here's a miyagi tort that was started from a tiny 1/4" frag broken while I was cleaning my tank.

Here's an unknown tort that I had the longest for over 1 yr and was about 1" tall.

wow. beautiful tank, thanks for sharing, do you dose anything? what do you feed your tank?

Webmanny and kabal2 - Mahalo! But tank still has much to develop.

As for feeding, I kinda feed heavy for my 6 fishes in this tank using mainly V2O dry mini pellets which I feed 3 to 5 times daily. For the corals I use benepets and reef-roids which I target feed one or 2 times weekly.
To keep things stable, I do a 2 part dosing to keep ALK and calcium levels up. This tank does suck up a lot of my ALK mix.
Here's a quick pic I just took today.

Just came back from a surf trip down in S Cali. Surf sucked but I picked up some nice stuff from my friend's marine wholesale.

Hey! Sorry to rehash an old thread. Also have a Nuvo 40 and am looking at better means of nutrient export to lower nitrate. Saw you’re running an algae scrubber. What are you using?

Gorgeous tank, btw!
