Daves 35g Shallow Reef

Thanks guys!

45 mL or CA
42 mL of ALK
3 drops of MB7
1 drop of Lugols 3-4 days
Reef Nutrition food

-Dave

I've been wanting to dose some MB7 but did not want to overdo it, I got a 57 gallon and a 30 gallon sump, been using Biodigest every 2 weeks but a few drops of MB7 wouldn't hurt..hehe. I also dose AA(1 drop a day of Elos AA).

You really cant go wrong with dosing MB7. It cant hurt anything.

The only thing that has happened is I stopped dosing vodka and I had a bacteria bloom but it cleared in a few days.

Something I have lived by with this tank is to let nature do its thing!

Picked up a six-line today. Nothing crazy but a fun fish to watch. :)

Thanks for tip Dfason:). I'm currently dosing Biodigest every 2 weeks but will be changing it to once a month, and 1 drop of AA each day. No carbon dosing:bigsmile:

Everything has been smooth sailing. My tank is due for a super cleaning here soon so I need to do that sooner rather than later. My ALK doser had a small air bubble which caused it to feed less ALK in the tank. My ALK was down to 6.5 but I have it back to 8, I hope to get it back to 9-10 in a week or two. The aptasia is going to kill me but I am looking into 5-6 adult berghia nudibraches to take care them.

As for the new tank I've had so many other projects that it has been the last thing to think about. I am trying to start a small company for LED lighting and other reactors for nano tanks and I figured why cant I showcase what I can do. This is what I sketched up in google sketch ( this is my first sketch too :) ).

I plan on a step bookcase that will function as furniture and fish stand. The plumbing will all be hidden and the equipment below the first tank. First tank will be the largest at 30x18x14 and be the shallow reef. Second tank a mangrove biotope 18x18x15. Last will be either an maxi mini anemone tank or NPS tank. Each will feature my LED fixture and all will be feed by the chilled reactor I am working on. The stand will be power coated off white and the shelf's will be a light birch.

I know I have changed my mind a thousand times but with my LED fixtures and focus on custom small tanks this only seems right!

I should have all of my Ozone reactor equipment today! I hope to have time to build it this week and hopefully running in the next few weeks.

I'm saving up some for a Hanna refractometer. Its a piece of equipment that I will keep forever so I figure why not get the best? I want to start doing two small water changes a week and see how things react to the water quality. I am working on a salt water/RO water station so H20 changes will be a breeze.

Fun picture for the day...

I am using the following for the Ozone....

Corallife Luft Pump
Air Dryer
Sanders 50mg/hr Ozone unit
DIY Ozone reactor
Shorty MR1 Carbon reactor
All of this will be connected to my RKL

I will make sure to post pictures of the filling station too.

I received my DIY ozone reactor stuff today. I am extremely excited about this and it is going to look great. Hopefully I can have it built this weekend and in the next few weeks have it hooked up. :)

Here's a few pre-fab pictures. The bio-bale material goes into the reactor to slow down the water flow and more reaction time for the ozone and water to react. This will run to my MR1 shorty carbon reactor and then back to my tank.

nTOTM - Uhuru NPS Tank.

Some really cool photo's and great info on NPS tanks.

I was working on my dining room table on my LED stuff and I started to look at my tank behind me. My one eyed hermit was looking odd. I walk over and look hard and its molting in front of me! I know its nothing crazy but it was one of the coolest things to watch. I grabbed my camera and started to snap away.

Excuse the ones that are not focused, I was way to excited over this.

Thanks guys! I am sending the drawing of the new stand to my local guy today to see what he can do for me.

Vortech pump is one of the best pieces of equipment I have bought. I will need to add a MP10 in a few months because the corals are starting to block water flow. Mostly in the back and I have a little bit of cyano popping up.

After a few to many brews last night I finished putting together my drill press and started to on my new heatsinks. While most people are using larger ones I believe they are overkill. I found a supplier with different size heatsinks that will make my units PERFECT for nano tanks. After receiving them I think the 12 LED units will be 8x3x1.5. :D

One Year Pictures

I cant believe that it has been one year already. With a few minor hick-ups things have been going great. My setosa has started to graft and looks really wild. Moved a few things around and really like the outcome. Anyways here are some pictures!
