Davy Jones Skimmate locker with RO 150sss. Will this even work?

I’m setting up my tank. I plan to move the skimmate locker but placed it near skimmer for the pic. The skimmer cup floor sits at 16.5 inches. The barb of the locker is at 16 inches. Is there enough gravity to force the skimmate into the collector or will it just sit in the tube and the bottom of the cup?

Is there any way to shorten the locker?

Yes it will work. The fish dooky needs to rise high enough in the skimmer cup to start the gravity pull. So about 1" in this case.
