Dawn's 36g Bowfront tank

Not much new to report on the tank. I have noticed really good polyp extension the last half of this week. I'm wondering if its the Nualgi? My sand surface is looking better but I'm back to a normal feeding schedule. Also I cut the time the LED true blue strip light was on from 5 hrs to 3hrs. So its hard to know which factor or combination of factors caused the improvement of the sand surface. No matter, I'm just glad it looks better!

Good to hear! I was reading more into that Nualgi stuff and it seems pretty interesting. Maybe that extra poly extension could mean more zooplankton floating around? No clue but it sounds like it may have helped out!

How are the shrimp and anemone doing?

They are doing great. The anemone has grown and seems very comfortable. The shrimp is more elusive but I can almost always see a shrimp antennae among the nems tentacles. He will scuttle out for food too. They are a cool pair.

Its difficult to say for sure but I wondered the same thing about zooplankton. It definitely hasn't been a bad thing, I kind of went into this with fear and trembling but I am feeling good about it.

good to know the Sheriff hasn't attacked your cleaner shrimp!

The Sheriff always stays with the nem so as long as Jacque is smart enough to give them some space he should be alright. I am more worried about Ruth, the serpent star. I felt sorry for her and moved her back into the display but that's probably been 2-3 weeks ago and so far so good. All of them hang out on the right side of the tank though. Cukes, the sea cucumber has the entire left side of the tank to himself. Go figure!

haha Ruth is plotting. Biding her time, recording your sleep schedule, keeping track of how much time she has to act unsupervised, and then she'll attack!

Well, this morning I tweaked my rock work on the left side of the tank. Its higher with more of a bonsai effect. I am pleased but not sure if some of the corals will be, particularly the clam and the pagota cup. We will see how they are when the lights come on.

I don't know if you can see the difference but here is a shot before the lights came on.

tank looks really great! I really like the new arrangement.

Thanks, I wasn't sure that pic even showed the difference. The pagota cup is not happy. It was getting a lot of flow under the spillway of the skimmer before the change. I really like it sticking out by itself bonsai-ish but I don't know what I will do if it doesn't perk up. Its my "canary in the mine" coral.
