Hi All,

I’m in the 3rd week of QT and just completed two weeks of Metro after a Clown had symptoms a week after copper. I’ve been dosing 3 scoops of metroplex for a 29g every other day with a small water change and for the past 4 days, I’ve been dosing 4 scoops. Yesterday, the clown has identical symptoms from the first day. Is this brook or potentially skin flukes? I treated the DT with prazi before moving them here and did one round of prazi the first day in QT but I’m wondering if this is flukes that haven’t been affected by the prazi.

The clown also gulps air at the surface occasionally and “yawns”.

Should I continue metro or divert the treatment to flukes?

I couldn’t snap a pic this morning, but the symptoms are pictured below from the first day.

The only difference is this time, the white patches are on the tip of the fins (for now).

Any help is appreciated!

Nate

you could do a 5 minute fresh water dip to check for flukes

How long did you treat with copper? Was it transferred to a sterile QT after copper treatment was discontinued?

I agree that a fw dip would be the first step to either confirm, rule out flukes. I would follow with an acriflavine bath to see if that impacts the spots at all. It could just be lympho if it’s confined to the fins, but the pictures you posted look more like the start of brook to me.

I know many people use metroplex and copper together when battling brook or uronema... both can be tough to get ahead of. The freshwater dip and acriflavine bath could be helpful in getting a leg-up if it’s just a stubborn case.

I may have to do another. I initially did one and didn’t see anything, just what I thought to be sediment from the bucket but will clean it out thoroughly prior to the dip this time. Thanks!

I’m still treating with copper, plan to for one more week. I’m just confused why metro hasn’t worked. Do I need to increase the dose by double?

What are you dosing now? I would do two scoops per 10 gallons (the instructions are kind of vague)

I’m doing one per 10. Copper has been at .5 (Cupramine) for the 3 weeks. I will up the dose and see if it helps, thanks! I’m almost out already, they don’t give you much. But can get some tomorrow. I’ll do a FW bath tonight.

Yes, I would increase the metro dose and keep on with both metro and copper.

If you can pickup some ruby reef rally (contains mostly acriflavine) it could definitely help as well. It has antiseptic and antiparasitic properties, could definitely give a leg-up. Good luck!
