Hi all, 18 days ago I dosed 30x 200mg pills of fluconazole in my 220gal mixed reef tank (+ approx 30gal in sump). I was treating for green hair algae.
My display was 99% gha free, but my overflows and refugium were a mess. I've definitely noticed a difference, but I still have some gha left, including a few teeny tiny patches in my display. The only thing running is phosguard in my reactors.
How much longer should I wait before I start running carbon, skimmer, and doing water changes? Should I order a second dose?

Approx 250gal system
1.025sg
0 No3 (BUT there's still some gha)
420ppm Ca
8.5dkh
82f
Various corals. Sps, Lps, etc
LED lighting
Dose Kents essential elements and coralvite once a week.

System up and running 1.5yrs. 1/3 of the tank came from a previous 90gal mixed reef that had been up for a couple of years.
System is pretty consistent. Prior to the Fluco treatment, I was doing weekly 30gal water changes religiously.

Run it now or add a follow up dose. IMO.
Thanks.
I just turned on the skimmer. Maybe I'll do a water change, but skip sucking the detritus off the rock and substrate. I'll also wait on the carbon.
Any idea how long this medicine lasts in the system? Is it suspended in the water column, or does it settle on the surfaces?

I know there's a great thousand page thread on the medicine, but my mind starts going numb after a few pages.

Hah
Thanks.

Haha. a same here. As I understand it it completely dissolves in the water. What we don't know is how long it stays. Is it the continued exposure over time or if its effect is immediate from the initial dose and then it oxidizes out over time As we have on real test for it.
I'm personally beginning to belive the latter.
Many folks keep the skimmer running and still run carbon and it still works on the bryopsis. But it could be both really. As the medicine does lose efficency over time.
