first cycle of a new tank, RS 170 45gal, with live sand, and that purple carib rock
used Dr Tims One+Only, now on day 3
My ammonia levels are still >2ppm, with 0 nitrite. (using red sea test kit)
pH 8.12, dKH 11

not sure why my ammonia is not dropping at all
- could my Dr Tim be a bad bottle?
-I did have my skimmer on when I put Dr Tim in, but turned it off on day 2.
-Did I overdose the NH4? - my Dr Tim NH4 bottle said 4 drops per gallon - 4x40gal= 160 drops; 20ml/drop, so I used 8ml (i estimated my total water volume in the tank at 40 gal)
-I used RODI so I dont have chlorine in my water

thx!

Turn off skimmer, you did not overdose ammonia, dr tims takes longer than others to work.

You just have to be patient, its hard. Dont test the water for at least another 7 days or you will go mad. It will cycle in time. It cant hurt to add more bacteria in a bottle but is wasteful on your wallet, Bio spira is imo the best bacteria in a bottle.

Nothing will stop this cycle it’s ready in ten days time if you change nothing, cease testing, and wait

liferock self activates in two weeks time no other boosts needed, their site. no aspect of your testing, dosing, offerings matter. Wait ten days, change some water out, and begin.

:) thx guys - Dr Tim's directions made it seem instantaneous results!
once the cycle completes, how much WC is usually recommended?

Any degree, is to export algae fuel there's no harm in ten day cycle water with bac

In pico reefs we change it all
