Just shot Dayne's epic 400 gallon reef. One of the best and biggest (and oldest) reef aquariums in Toronto, Canada.

Let me know what you think.

Great video of a fantastic tank. Really like the DIY heater, probably not realistic for most but makes a lot of sense for system of this size.

How exactly is redundant heater setup? He said the apex temp controller controls the tankless water heater "and there's a redundant one". Is this another apex? And how do 2 different controllers talk to one tankless heater, how does that wiring work? Is the heat exchanger tubing pex? Lastly what is probability of tankless heater failure, any old schools heaters in there for that?

Very cool video. I think his sump organization and fish room are top notch.

Figured I'd share the second part of the video where we answer a lot of your questions:

I watched both videos last night! - Very cool reefer and setup! Can't beat seaswirls at the front of the reef on a closed loop - something I am doing in my new tank.

Nice to see you documenting a good reefers method. I just watched the video you posted about him fragging. I am getting ready to setup a large tank with basement fish room and have not considered the heating part. I may need 1500 watts and everything insulated but not sure what to expect. All I know right now is I have 100 gallon temporary tank in basement and electric bill is high with 900watt barely keeping tank at 75 degree - Moreover i am not even living there so that makes it even more concerning.

I just scared myself, I will have 850 actual gallons. Maybe smarter to just look at baseboard hot water heater in basement.
