Using Jim Welch's DYI 2 part with high pH. (Sodium Hydroxide formula)

Alk stays good for couple weeks and then starts dropping.

Currently Alk 7.7

I am using Apex controlled dosing and I know you are suppose to Dose equal parts but apex is dosing 271ml Alk vs 151ml Ca.

Could this be what keeps driving my Alk down?

Should I just dose equal parts and not use apex controlled dosing?

I'm 68 years old and at the twilight of my reefing career and would like to get it right just once.

Any suggestions appreciated

The apex is dosing the appropriate amount to raise alk but not calcium, dosing equal parts could keep the calcium stable but the alk could lower or vice versa. Do you have a neptune trident that the apex is attached to?

It shouldn’t be.. one of 2 things are happening.. your corals are growing and using more alk or your dose is just below the demand they require to survive and dropping it.. either way just bump up your alk dose a little bit and let it ride for a week and see what happens.

It shouldn’t take much as I think your numbers are solid! Not sure what your target is but you’re safe right now.. if you raise your alk up to 10 ish make sure you raise no3 and po4 as you can starve stuff.
