After the crash of my last tank, I’m starting over with a new (to me, it’s used) tank. This tank is a 60 and appears to be an older CDA tank, it’s in great shape!

I’m keeping my current sump which is an Eshopps R-200 Refugium Sump. I picked up a new Cor-20 at Reefapalooza this weekend and some new rock.

As I’m laying things out I’m considering buying two new reactors. Any recommendations? I want to make sure they are easy to change out and clean. Generally I find reactors a pain and therefore tend to avoid changing the media out so maybe if I buy two that are easier to maintain I’ll be better about it.

Thank you!

Pictures to come!

What are you going to be running in them? Certain reactors are better suited for specific medias.

I've been introduced to two reactors recently that are pretty different from the common reactors with two hose connections for inlet and outlet.

The first is the Nyos Torq shown off at InterZoo (I believe) which has a base with a pump built in. The canisters are inserted into the pump based and locked in with a turn. It reminded me of a magic bullet personal blender. Jake Adams wrote about it here: https://reefbuilders.com/2018/05/02/nyos-torq-media-reactor-is-all-about-that-base/

The second is from Ultra Reef: The UFF003 reactor doesn't have a built-in pump but only has one inlet barb in the base. The water flows up through the canister and out over the canister back down into the sump. The canisters lock in a similar way to the Nyos. The Unique Corals page for the reactor has a YouTube link showing off the reactor in use: https://uniquecorals.com/collection...-uff003-fluidized-reactor?variant=53015900243

Hope that helps!

Those are two VERY interesting options....once I have my sump in and everything plumbed I'll see where I stand for space...I have a feeling those won't fit into my sump :(
