Dc return pumps

Hey fellow reefers. I've recently picked up a redsea 250. I was curious between sicce and vectra for DC return pump, wick would be the better buy? I would ideally want a pump that can do about 1300gph so I can run it at half power and have a bit of headroom should I need to run other items off it. Any advice or suggestions is very much appreciated!! Thank you for your time!

I like my Sicce pump and I will continue to get sicce pumps

Hey,
I am running a 175 gallon tank with a Vector S2 return pump, recently it is starting and stopping intermittently. My question is what do you guys think I should replace it with? I have heard the quality of the new Vector isn't very good.

I would consider looking into a vectra M2. My only reasoning for this is you are likely having to run your return pump near full capacity. The m2 would reduce wear and tear and also help to maintain water temps. Outside of that, I'm pretty sure sicce 9.0 is an equal match to the Vectra M2. You can also look into jebao if you want to go budget. Hope this is of some help!!
 
I ran a Vectra L1 for about 7 years and it died. So I went with an EFLUX CURRENT pump, about half the price of the Vectra and 6 months so far it is going strong.
 
Another Sicce SDC user here. Really good pump, hasn't missed a beat and has some useful alert functions too like a temp monitor (use it as a guide as its not perfect), tell you when maintenance is due or if the pump has lost power etc

I would not get the sicce as they use a proprietary plug making it difficult to hook up a battery backup. I think the greatest benefit to a DC pump is the ease of adding a battery backup and sicce SDC missed that.

The vectra is nice and has a separate battery back up input on the controller.

However I have switched to Jebao's because they are cheap so you can buy 2 pumps for the price of one vectra and always have a spare ready to go (for when i dump water on a pump controller and fry it....twice). They are mostly 24v too so it's super easy to make a DIY battery backup that will run for days.

I ordered the Sicce SDC, and returned it after seeing its connections and lack of battery back up input. I keep the vectra in my spare parts bin and have a ton of jebaos that I use for everything.

Honestly I personally use a generic dc 1200gph return pump from Amazon, it was roughly 70$ and it’s been running daily for 7 years and I’ve had no issues with it. It has a normal power plug, I have a lithium ups power station, and I can run the pump for 48 hours on battery

What are your thoughts on the Reef Factory 10000, it is over $100 cheaper, my understanding is Reef Factory products are high quality.
 
I personally have no first hand experience with them unfortunately. However, from what I can tell off their site. Volume wise, its seems it should be adequate for tank turnover. Also seems to be not too bad for power consumption. This would seem to be an appropriate choice from going off face value of the product. If I may suggest one other option for you to look at if you want to be more budget friendly, have a peek at jebao. The price for the equivelant of what a vectra s2 costs where I live. Jebao is 149.99 plus tax where as the vectra s2 sells for 549.99 plus tax.

I'll take a look at the Jebao, I have one of their smaller pumps on my mixing station, it runs constantly to keep my saltwater churned, I have had no problems with it.

Thats the way I have moved my setups to also.
