DCG1286's 93G Cube

Just installed the Giesemann Megachrome 14K bulb. I actually really like the colors I am getting from it!

Looks great. I love the different colors of your SPS. I had a lime green piece like yours (before it got some sort of disease), I'd love another but no one could definitively name it, the closest was porates

Thank you!

Wow! That is a very nice piece. I would say it's a branching Porites, without a doubt. I had a fairly large colony a few years ago when I had my 120 up and running. I still wish I had it! lol.

Tank looks great, I almost ordered some of the Megachrome halides myself. How do you like them so far?

Thank you very much. Yeah ... next purchase a good camera, so I can properly capture the colors of the corals. :D lol.

Yesterday was the first time I fired up the Megachrome, and my first response was "perfect." It's not too blue, not too white. It's giving me the look that I want. I have used the Phoenix 14k's in the past which I know a lot of people love, it's just not for me. I didn't mind the look of the XM 10K that I had just been trying out, and still wouldn't mind using it if I didn't get this Megachrome.

I ended up going with the XM 15K instead of the MegaChromes and I've been happy so far and have had good response from the coral.

Maybe next bulb change I will try them out. They say that the bulb has a three year life on it without any shift in the color or PAR, wonder the validity of that.

I tried the XM 15K years back, I enjoyed it while I was using it.

3 year life span for the Giesemann?! Really? A friend of mine gave me this bulb, he fired it up once and didn't like the color so passed it along to me. I will have to do some research!

I have also been thinking of upgrading my skimmer ... I currently have the Vertex IN-180 which works pretty well for the most part. I was looking into the ATB 840 cone, or possible the Vertex Alpha cone 170-200 (200 would most likely be overkill though).

Any suggestions would be appreciated! :nerd:

I re-scaped the right side of my tank a bit ... decided to remove a larger piece of shelf rock for a nice piece of branch rock. :) Still trying to color up this Strawberry Shortcake acro ... I had it placed really high in the tank and it stayed brown, I lowered it quite a bit and some of the colors are starting to set in. Still has a LONG WAY to go.

Through the top of the tank this piece is sooooooo nice. Lime Green, no 'official' name but who cares. :)

I posted an earlier picture of this on my thread ... I think it's Acropora Solitaryensis.
