Ok, this is my saltwater tank. This has been a trip and a half. I didn't have a clue what I was doing even after reading and reading for a month. Brain was fried but I went for it. I had minimal money but was told I could get one going so I started.... After a few nightmares I figured it out enough to keep things alive for now anyway lol. I started in July with a tank, stand, skimmer for some company that no longer exists, and one double t5 light fixture.

I bought it from a guy on craigslist and he told me everything was working great. I paid $300 and thought I got a good deal. The skimmer was crap and the light fixture died after about a month. At that time my son was 6 months and I had no money so I scraped up what I could and continued on my reef journey.

I now have:

1 Reef Radiance DM-155e LED light fixture (was told one would be enough by someone but I clearly need 2)
1 55 gallon aquarium
1 Aquarium stand
1 Reef Octopus BH1000 HOB Protein Skimmer
1 ViaAqua 300 Watt Quartz Heater
2 Hydor Koralia Evolution powerheads 1150 gph each
1 Hydor Koralia Evolution powerhead 600 gph
50 lbs of Life Rock
10 lbs of base rock
1 RO/DI System
1 Refractometer
I also have a shallow crushed coral sandbed but I'm considering going bare bottom.

The tank has went through diatoms, green film algae, copepods, red slime but I killed it off with chemiclean and now waiting for whats next.
I do have some purple coraline on back glass and a little on rocks. Didn't have any in beginning. It came in on a snail.

I have a few snails, hermit crabs, a fuzzy chiton, a peppermint shrimp, emerald crab, 2 ocellaris clownfish, and one yellow tang. I also have 2 heads of Aussie multi-color Lordhowensis Acan, 1 green tip frogspawn, 2 purple tip frogspawn, 1 pom pom xenia, and 5 winter wintermelon crush zoas.

Looks like we are both reefing on a budget, lol! I just set up my first 55 gallon. Putting the doors on the stand today! I'll post a link. Good luck! I've found so far that Amazon has some great prices from lots of vendors. Sort of one stop shopping.
