Hi all.

Recently purchased a Red Sea Max 260 and the used heater had previously has stopped working. No fish in the tank at the moment so not a big problem but it is worth investing in a DD Temperature Control unit with a Aqua Medic titanium heater or is that overkill??

I have no experience with that controller. But it is not overkill at all to go with an external controller as opposed to the internal ones in the "everyday" aquarium heater. They fail easily. Even

I use Ranco Temp Controllers with Finnex Titanium heating tubes (heat only, no controller). They are rock solid and i have never had an issue. There is some wiring needed, though it is basic. Assembled models are out there, they cost a touch more.

I am sure there are other controllers out there, just look for reviews on well known retail sites and here.
