Dead coral now having growth?

Anyone know what this could be?

it’s the red growth with the glue. No idea what it is. Coral I’m holding died but seems to be recovering a little too. Thoughts?

I’m not entirely sure it is. Been in tank for almost two months. And the red wraps around the base and glue a few places?

Because the coral was dead I’m not risking it but for educational purposes broke off the growth. Was translucentish. Hard as well. Chucked the coral.

On a side note… I leave any dead coral in the tank sometimes for months. Sometimes more often than not, they come back. The most recent example of this is a bubblegum digi that was a nub and has been dead for at minimum of 4 months. I left it in the tank because I’m lazy I guess and this past week there is new growth and it’s actually growing pretty quickly from the time I first noticed life on it again.

Yeah. The birdnest although dead looked like it was showing signs of returning but I’m not going to lose sleep over a $15 frag that’s dead. If I’m that heartbroken I can step up and get another.
