dead fish: fish bully

My kole tang bullied my LMB so much it didn't come out to eat and he died, I feel so bad, anyone else have trouble with a bully kole tang I always had kole tangs and never experienced a mean one. I want another LMB, but don't want to see that happen again.

I would trade in the kole tang and get another one at the same time you introduce the LMB. I didn't have problems with my kole tang and it actually got along swimmingly with everyone in my tank. Especially my sailfin tang. They always swam right next to eachother. Unfortunately my kole tang starved to death because I apparently didn't have enough of what it likes to eat in the tank and I did not realize how thin he was until it was too late.

I would hate to get rid of this kole tang, besides the LMB, he getts along with all others in the tank. I guess I will just have to be without a LMB. which is too bad, cause they really do a great job cleaning house.

i have a tomini that does the same to my lmb. he has learned to defend himself and they are not buddies but live together. its all about food....I believe. i was afraid he would bully other new fish but I added a malanarus wrasse and he pays it no attention. i was about to move him out but theyve learned to get along. sorry to hear about your lmb. mine is my cheapest fish but my favorite. $8 from petco.

not big just 55 gallon, they lived together peacefully for months, then the kole just turned mean, just on him. was weird, the kole would come from the other side of the tank and dart at him.

my lmb, was one of my favorites, lots of character.

for some reason I have always had issues keeping LMBs, not sure why but I can never get them to eat.

mine was eating well always fat until the kole kept attacking him, they are a tough fish to get to eat prepared foods for sure

Those two fish compete for the same food, so in a little tank like that the LMB is encroaching on his territory. The Kole Tang probably wouldn't be as aggressive if it ALWAYS had something to eat. That's why they do better in a mature tank where they can graze on the rocks.
