I woke up to a dead fish in my coral reef tank. All of the chemistry reads normal. I did have a PH reading of about 8.2. Is this too high? How do I bring the PH level down if it is too high?

Thank you in advance.

How long has your aquarium been running for? Did you add something to the tank recently?

It has been running for about 4 months and everything has been fine. I just check the chemistry, salinity, temperature, etc. And everything seems normal.

Fine pH...envious, I struggle to keep 7.90. Bummer about the fish. There's going to be many other things that likely led to loss.

If you have other fish and they're all fine with no symptoms then that's going to be helpful for everyone here to help.

The ammonia level is low and the other fish seem to be fine. He was very active, including last night and ate a lot. Woke up and he was dead.

yellow eye tang. The tank is 45 gallons and I have a blue tang, couple of very small yellow wrasses, 2 small clown fish, bleny, some hermits and a fire shrimp.

Did you check for stray voltage in which you feel tingling when you place your fingers in the water?
May I suggest also to take a water sample to a Trusted LFS and have them test for you to compare with your ereadings and see what they come up with.
What test kit(s) are you using ?
