Dead pink streaked wrasse overnight

hey guys

sadly I saw my pink streaked wrasse dead in my rockwork.

It was eating and happy.. also my anthias has a damaged fin…

only fish in the tank are a pair clowns and 3 tiny green chromis..

the clowns were always in a tank together with my wrasse.. the chromis are new and the anthias.

any idea?

params, where was it found, when was it acquired, tank age, any new stockings. Is that coloration or is that some flesh sticking out on the first pick?

Ontop of the other photos, was there any strange behaviour? I.E. struggling to swim.

Also, how long did you have it? These fish have rather short life spans of 4-5 years.

params are and where stable and I do have other fishes in the tank.

the wrasse and the 2 clowns were in the tank for about 3 months.. I have added 3 little chromis and a fathead anthias 1 week ago. Also I did restart the tank with live rock.

The fathead anthias also died yesterday and had a damages fin (like the wrasse)

The chromis and the clowns are always grouped but I didnt see any aggression..

no strange behaviour.. the wrasse was more active then ever the last week.. he was swimming around and didnt hide so much as before since ive added the chromis and anthias..

I have 0 clue..

Potentially a disease brought on from the fathead anthias… finrot is a possibility. I wouldn’t say the clownfish aren’t the culprit though, they can often kill then look innocent after.

Fish will behave differently with people around since they instinctively are focused on the potential predator (you). Might want to set up a camera to see how they act without you around.

The possibilities are many things. And the best way to take a picture (hopefully this will not happen again to you - so you won't need to take a picture) - is in the water. I cant for some reason see the other responses - so here is mine:

1. The eye size on the one side vs the other are different - was there some "Popeye". Was there a bacterial infection throughout the fish? (By the way - this could be a post-mortem change - since you saw it in your rock dead)
2. The acclimation procedure you used. Especially the salinity. (i.e. not clear how long the fish was in the tank? Qt?
3. Were there any other lesions on the fish - unfortunately - lets say a fish dies of cryptocaryon (Ich) - the parasites rapidly leave the dead body.

Lastly - sorry for the loss of your fish - it literally could be multiple things - the questions I'm asking are for the safety of the fish left in the tank - as well as any new fish you might want to add

How big of a tank? How long was it set up? What's your temperature and salinity at?
What do you have for filtration?
