The "white crispy" is salt. You wouldn't want to set your water to the proper salinity then add this rock because it would spike the salinity. A good bath in water and a scrub should clean everything off. I'm not so sure I would do vinegar, but if you do it should evaporate. Vinegar will drop Ph which with a buffer will climb back up.

Good luck!

well hes trying to clean his rocks PH doesnt matter nothing is living in there. even if some vinegar was left on his rocks when he put into a tank its not going to do anything. vinegar is a carbon source for bacteria that consume phos/nit. vinegar bath will also help draw out and get rid of the organics that are now locked into his rocks.

I would not use vinegar. There's no need and it will alter the buffering capacity of your rock, provided it's of reef origin.

I use diluted bleach when I reset my tank no problem at all just let them soak in bleach and then soak in fresh water for a day rinse off and they will be blinding white with no chemical to worry about.

did you have to put in vinager to take out the bleach because i think bleach in an aquarium wont be good?

I had removed the ricks wash them dried them for 3 days and then wash them with fresh water them boiled them for 6 hours then wash it and at last looked to every rock and remove what ever hanging on it then wash it and leave to dry for one day

Nothing else needed u can see clean rocks and directly use then in a tank with the right salinity
