Ok I'm starting to buy rock . I have to do this bit by bit that's why I'm goin for dead rock as uv not got rodi system to keep live rock. So I'm getting my sand and collecting life rock. My question when I finally fill up my tank with dead rock how long does it take to become life?

Not sure I understand the RO/DI part of your question but tank cycling varies in how long. There are products available that will speed up the process, or let it cycle naturally ( usually around 4 to 8 weeks) If your tank is empty, you can put live sand and rock with your saltwater and let it cycle that way just test ammonia, nitrates, when they peak and then drop, test nitrates after that peaks you can slowly start adding the livestock you want and so on. hope this helps. and enjoy your tank.

Basically my filter will b protein skinner with live rock. But I want to start collecting the rock now . But I have no rodi system to make the water to keep the rock in. I wanted to know if I buy dead rock for now till I get enough to start my tank . How long will it take for the dead rock to become live?

it will take the 4 to 8 weeks to cycle along with the tank to grow the beneficial bacteria on it and in it. You can start cycling it as you get it as long as you condition your tap water ( remove chlorine, chloramines etc. before you mix your salt into it. A suggestion would be to scrub the rocks with a brush under fresh water to remove any dead stuff from it before adding to your tank if you are going to start buying it now and adding all at once later. hope this helps.

Once in the tank it will become life after cycle is this correct, u have been much helpful
