Came home from work and one of my snails was upside down on the bottom (again) so I flipped him over like I always do and the next morning he was in the same spot. So I left him in again today just in case. Came home and my cleaner shrimp was eating on him.

:/

RIP Coraline Covered Snail!

Question is do I leave him in there to be eaten and shell left for hermets?

Or is it better to take it out and trash it?

Thanks in advance

Honestly it's good critter food now. I usually leave the shells from any crab or snail that dies. It just helps so that now the others can move in to that shell, well mainly crabs. I've never seen a snail leave it's shell to go to another one so I have no idea on that lol.

Remove it and stick to snails that can flip themselves over - trochus and nassarius.

That happens. Then this happens (the video is from my tank).

My crab has a snail shell also. Spoils of war I guess.

Just to err on the side of caution. if the tank is super small and the snail is really big, it could really foul the water.

Can I ask why you would remove it? Since we've left them in there with no problem so far.. I just want to know if leaving them in there does actually cause a problem?

Very true. Yeah after thinking about it, I thought if said snail was kinda big it could cause an issue but if it was smaller it shouldn't do much of anything. Anyway was just making sure it didn't like give off something bad or whatever lol, guess I'm one of those caution thinkers..

It's a 29 gallon and the snail is a little smaller then a quarter? But I do have a few blue legged hermets that could use it...?

Oh wow!

That's a negative. I'll pass on growing the hermets [emoji886][emoji224][emoji222]
