Dealing with cyano

Trying to get rid of cyano in my tank (without using chemicals). So far failing!

It seems to be worse in the morning before lights come on for some reason.

I have increased the flow in the tank to try and help but to be honest, it's gotten worse!

Current parameters:
Salinity 1.026
Ph 8
Nitrate 5-10
Phos 0.03

Tank is around 5 months cycled.

Just let it do its thing for now or just get some chemiclean?

I've had success dosing microbacter 7 and microbacter clean as per their bottles instructions. Basically daily for a week, then weekly.

i bought a bullet goby and it was completely gone within in a week, if your sandbed is established enough/if the bullet goby will eat frozen for you, that's my recommendation

For Cyano….I just use chemi-clean or red slime remover, both antibiotic and targets Cyano.
Lower lights if possible.
Increase flow.
Works well and fast.
Looks like a minor amount to me.

Use pods and live phytoplankton. I have also had success with dosing daily micro Bacter clean per instructions on bottle it was gone in less than 2 weeks. Doesn’t make your skimmer go nuts either.

Yes it will be there all day, but will get worse when the lights are on and pull back a little when lights are off

Could be due to lower oxygen concentration at night.

I'm finding the opposite though. Bad when lights are off. Pretty much not noticeable when lights are on...

What could cause that? No change in pumps etc or surface agitation. Skimmer also stays on

So I've just done a retest, I'm using the salifert phos test kit and it's so hard to see if it's zero or 0.03

I'm guessing it's more towards zero, as my nitrates are 5

OK so cyano is now completely gone! All down to chemiclean.

Yes Its technically just a bandaid, but the tank just looks way better now. I think it's down to lower phosphate levels so will now work on raising these to see if cyano returns.

I've read about people's skimmers going mad for weeks after doing their waterchange. But I've just spent the last hour or so doing a water change through my skimmer, draining into a bucket and then topping up with fresh saltwater into return section. Skimmer has calmed down a lot already and not even done 10% change yet. Also got a bag of carbon in the sump.
