Hey everyone, so my tank is now a little over a month old and I put my first fish in last week and just as I expected, the algae followed soon behind. I think it is diatoms and there's not a ton but definitely some specs in the sand and some larger spots on the rocks. I am using RO water from a local store (it's only a 13 gallon tank and I live in a dorm so an RODI unit of my own is out of the picture for now) and my ammonia and nitrites are 0 and I'm doing water changes weekly. I can tell it's starting to grow exponentially and was wondering if I should let it do it's thing for if I should get some snails to help control it before it gets out of hand? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I'll post some pictures of it when I get home in about an hour (just in case I'm totally wrong and it's not diatoms haha)

Yup. Snail time.
If it doesn’t pass in a week or three , try to change the place you get your water , or but some distilled.

If you use tap water that can cause nitrates even with the dechlorinator you put in get a filter for your water if you don't already have one.

Here's some pics :D

What kind and how many would you recommend?
I'm thinking 2 cerith and a trochus but don't know if that's too many or not enough?

IMO , chonks are good for the sand and diatoms. Maybe try six plus the conk. 2 trochus 2 cerith and 2 asterina.
