So I have set up a tank. And to be totally honest. I used dry rock I won from r2r at RAP to set up my new 90gal.

I did not cure it. It did get rained on, and rinsed a bit by me. So should I be testing for any possible leaching?. The rock was spotless.

I assume it would leak some kind of phosphate? So ive tested to find none. I am in no hurry to stock, tank is 3 weeks into cycle.

Anyones thoughts are welcome

I could be wrong but I don't see a problem. Regardless of where rock comes from, there could always be something bad. Just cycle tank and watch... And when you cycle finishes. Just start slow.after cycle Add a few snails and hermits and wait at least 3 weeks before adding anything thing else. and as always just keep testing.

I thought so but I have also head of uncured dry rock leaching phos...which would lead to massive water changes lol. The tank is starting its brown algae and nitrate stage so ive added a few crabs and snails from current tank. It will be an sps dominant tank in the end so in the next few weeks ill slowly add fish.

Figured i would rather be safe asking then sorry

Have you measured to see if there is substantial phosphate in the water now?

Its been in operation for a month and i litterally transfered everything over yesterday. As of transfer i was sub .2

My new thing whenever I start a tank. 1. Set it all up(including dropping in cuprisorb and a bag of gfo) 2. Power everything needing power 3. Turn it all on 4. Walk away for 2 months but toss food in every other day

WC wont change Po. The algae in the ugly phase of the tank will suck it up though.

This is old news! But thanks for the help. The whole tank has been transfered and is in operation
